The on-site team said that the current plan is
- On Friday 6 Sep: put out No Parking notices in Attwoods Drove and at the school end of Compton Street
- On Saturday 7 Sep: return to do the surface dressing in Attwoods Drove and the eastern end of Compton Street

What you should do
To help us complete this work, with minimal inconvenience to you, please follow this advice:
- Please do not park on the road (during the day) or be prepared to move your car until the road has been treated.
- Please keep children and pets away from the new surface, for safety and cleanliness.
- Check your shoes before entering your car or home.
About the work
Hampshire County Council is currently carrying out a variety of maintenance treatments based around extending the resilience and life of the highway network. Operation Resilience is essentially an investment in Hampshire’s infrastructure for the long term. It marks a substantial shift in emphasis from reactive to planned maintenance – which is much more cost-effective in the long run, making them more resilient to the effects of extreme weather, such as snow and ice.
Although the carriageway outside your property may appear sound, fine cracks and worn areas are starting to appear. If the cracks are left untreated they will deteriorate further. In the next few days, weather permitting, the surface will be treated.
The name for this treatment is ‘Surface Dressing’. This process seals and preserves the existing surface, but will follow the existing profile of the road surface. The process is fast, efficient, sustainable and extremely effective in prolonging the life of the carriageway by sealing the carriageway from water ingress and improving grip. The treatment does result in loose aggregate being present on the highway for a short time, please be assured that this material will be mechanically swept after twenty-four hours and then after two weeks.
The works are weather-sensitive and therefore, exact dates cannot be given in this letter.
