This is a follow up to the public meeting in the Parish Hall on Thursday 7 April.

What is the SHELAA?

What is the SHELAA?
The SHELAA is a register of the sites that the Council has been advised by developers and landowners that could be potentially available for development. Sites included in the SHELAA result from a “call for sites” which was open to all and widely publicised. The call for sites was open between 20th January 2020 to 2nd March 2020.

The SHELAA only identifies sites which have been submitted to the Council, it does NOT allocate sites for development. The inclusion of the site in the SHELAA does not imply that the Council would necessarily grant planning permission as it is only a register of sites that developers/landowners have put forward for development.

    Compton Down, Compton Street (includes Attwoods Drove, Martins Fields and Place Lane), Shawford (includes The Malms) or Southdown (includes dwellings along the Otterbourne Road and those on the east side of the motorway):

On the Parish map below, those areas shaded in red are SHELAA sites (Strategic Housing and Employment Land Availability Assessment) where the owner has declared to Winchester City Council that the land is available for development. Rank the areas you consider the least objectionable for housing development (G for green), moderately objectionable (A for Amber), or most objectionable (R for Red) in the table below:
