The Hampshire Hedge project

The Hampshire Hedge Project launch event was held on 23rd November 2023 at Cox Croft Farm at the end of Compton Street under the auspices of CPRE, the countryside charity.

What is the Hampshire Hedge?

The Hampshire Hedge is an ambitious new initiative to connect the two National Parks in Hampshire, the South Downs National Park and the New Forest National Park, with a nature recovery corridor of hedgerow, planted by community groups, schools and landowners, between Copythorne, in the New Forest, and Compton.

Hedge laying and planting has already commenced within the area to the west and north of Compton Street thanks to the efforts of students at Sparsholt Agricultural College.

It is expected that both the local scout group and Compton Primary School will get involved.
