Phone Box defibrillators update – Feb 2018

Phone Box DefibrillatorsAs reported in last September’s PC meeting, the Parish Council has bought the telephone kiosks in Martins Fields and Shawford Road from BT for £2.

The installation of automated defibrillators is now imminent.

The Council used a grant from the Big Lottery Fund to buy the defibrillators from the Community Heartbeat Trust,

The Residents’ Associations will make regular checks on the defibrillators.

The Shawford box is ready to go, following a morning of de-weeding and clearing of cobwebs in a joint effort by Richard Webster, Parish Council committee member who has managed this project, and Catherine Brant, Chair of Shawford Village residents’ association (seen in the photo).

The Compton box has had a new coat of paint and now looks great like its sister kiosk in Shawford.

The Community Heartbeat Trust will organise training in the use of the defibrillators. Everyone in the parish is welcome and we encourage people to attend. Although we hope that this potentially life-saving equipment is never needed, the more people who are able to use the equipment the better.

We will announce the dates for the training in the parish magazine and on this website.

Shawford has had several offers of help for the maintenance of the equipment, which will include a weekly simple check, but if anyone else would like to support with the maintenance of this equipment, we would be very grateful.

Please contact either Catherine Brant at , or Councillor Frances Strange using the Council contact form
