Compton Lock Dispersal Orders – 23 June 2020
Two Dispersal Orders authorised for Compton Lock and The Meads by Hampshire Police this week.
I am pleased to report that Hampshire Police have continued to patrol the water meadows these last two weeks and that there has been no incident of note of anti-social behaviour.
However as very warm weather is forecast this week, the police have issued two back-to-back dispersal orders to run this week from 10.00 on Tuesday 23rd June to 21.59 on Saturday 27th June.
May I also thank the many unseen people of our villages who collect litter in the water meadows and lock area. It is much appreciated.

Earlier Compton Lock Dispersal Order – 2 June 2020
A dispersal order has been put in place in Compton Lock – also known as Shawford Lock – and Hockley Link following reports of public disorder.
Neighbourhood Chief Inspector Jon Turton authorised the order, which will run from 3pm on Monday 1 June until the same time on Wednesday 3 June.
If appropriate, a further dispersal order could then be put in place.
The order is in response to a number of reports of anti-social behaviour caused by large groups of people. This is causing distress to the users of the area who just want to have a relaxing time.
Hockley Link is also becoming a safety concern, with people putting themselves at risk of injury by jumping into the water from concerning heights.
The dispersal order gives officers the power to disperse any individual from the area who is involved in anti-social behaviour.
High visibility patrols will continue to reassure the public and to deter large groups from congregating.
Anyone who witnesses anti-social behaviour or large gatherings is encouraged to call 101, or if a crime or incident is in progress, always call 999.
