Shawford Village Transport Disruption April 2019
Temporary road closure of Finch’s Lane
Planned temporary road closure of Finch’s Lane, Twyford to allow Norris Bridge to be repainted
Originally planned to commence in late March, work to repaint Norris Bridge has been postponed until 1st April 2019.
The work is programmed to take five weeks to complete.
To ensure the safety of the travelling public and the operatives carrying out the work, Hampshire County Council has advised that it will be necessary to close the road to vehicles while work takes place.
To reduce the impact of the closure it will be restricted to outside of peak hours (09.30 – 16.00).
A signed diversion route will be installed during the work and advance warning signs have been erected. Access for pedestrians will be maintained during the road closure.
Railway Engineering Works 3 March – 2 June 2019
Network Rail has advised that work to renew the railway track will take place in the Shawford area between 3 March and 2 June 2019.
This will involve excavating the track bed and replacing the rail and components using a specialist machine, which will result in ‘noise disturbance’, while the machine is in operation.
For safety reasons the work will need to be carried out when trains are not running, which will mean that most of the work will take place during the night and at weekends.
Details of alterations to the train timetable and replacement bus services in late evenings and at weekends are on the South Western Railway website:
