Observant residents may have seen notices about planned roadworks in Compton Street.

The official notice is a little short on detail about when and what will be done.

Thanks to Councillor Martin Bell for the following additional information:

  • The work will be to the road outside the school and is related to drainage issues.
  • It should take take 2/3 days.
  • It will take place sometime in August, so outside term time.
  • Advance warning will be given and there will be a neighbourhood letter drop.
  • Closure is needed as a large machine is required.
  • Note has been made of the bus service and disruption to this will be avoided if possible.
  • There will be as much access left open as possible.

Temporary Road Closure Compton Street, Compton

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Winchester City Council as agents for Hampshire County Council proposes to make an Order on traffic management grounds to allow for highway works to be carried out as follows:-

ROADS TO BE CLOSED: COMPTON STREET, COMPTON between its junction with Otterbourne Road and its junction with Attwoods Drove.
ALTERNATIVE ROUTES: None.
ORDERS TO BE SUSPENDED: None.
PERIOD OF RESTRICTION:
From  and  including  the  13th   July  2016  for  a  period  of  twelve  months  or  until completion of the works whichever is sooner.
(Notwithstanding the above it is expected that the closure and no entry order will be required for no longer than 3 days off-peak)
Reasonable facilities will be provided to allow access to adjacent premises while the work is being carried out.
