From the August 2012 Parish Magazine

John Wilkinson, Footpaths/environment Representative C&SPC writes:

The Parish Council has erected a Map Board at the foot of Shawford Down near the car park. This is to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth 2nd. It shows all the footpaths and bridle/cycle paths within the Parish of Compton & Shawford, with panoramic view points, some ‘photos and a commentary. We hope that you will find it of interest and useful. Our  future plans include a downloadable footpaths map on the Parish website and short commentaries to add historical colour to your walks.

John masterminded the project from its inception and led the small team who laid the concrete foundations and installed it at the foot of the Shawford on 2 June 2012.

The board and map were created by Hampshire Council, who with Compton & Shawford Parish Council provided the funding.
