New Refuse Collection Contract

Winchester City Council has teamed up with East Hampshire District Council to share environmental services across both areas, saving more than £2 million in the process.

The new contract began on Monday 3 October with Biffa Waste Service collecting your bins.

New Bin Collection Days

Biffa have re-arranged the collection rounds to make them more efficient, economic and environmentally friendly but this will mean many residents will soon have a new bin collection day.

The new collection days will begin on the week commencing 17 October. Bin collections continue as normal up to and including Friday 14 October.

You should have received a calendar through the post in the first week of October informing you of your new day and your collection details for the next 12 months so keep it safe.

There will be one fundamental change – your garden bag will need to be put out with the black bin refuse not recycling . Please put your bin out by 7 am (most of do that anyway) as we do not know what time they will be around in our area.

If you have any questions you can call the help line on 0300 300 0013 or visit  http://www.working-together.org.uk.  Please pass this message on to your neighbours and friends and please look at your calendars when they pop through your letter box.

There are bound to be teething problems.  If you miss your day, the advice given is to notify the Council using the above number and leave your bin out in a visible position and they will organise to collect it.  This extra service will be available for the first few weeks into the new collection days.
