Hampshire and The Solent Devolution Consultation
Hampshire and The Solent Devolution Consultation
Central Government is currently consulting the public across Hampshire on their devolution proposal to create a new Mayoral Combined County Authority for Hampshire, Portsmouth, the Isle of Wight, and Southampton

What’s happening?
The government plans to move power out of Westminster and back to local communities.
Strategic Authorities such as the new one proposed for Hampshire and the Solent will have more powers over areas such as transport and local infrastructure, health, environment, housing and planning.
How does it affect us?
Town and Parish Councils are not being reorganised but Government wants to strengthen the relationship between town and parish councils and the new unitary councils. (details awaited)
Our PC is on the case and trying to get as much info as possible.
What’s the timetable?
The HCC elections planned for 2025 will be postponed for 12 months to allow preparation for the first Mayoral election in 2026
