Shawford Down Car Park Temporary Closure

Pete Durnell, Hampshire County Council’s Countryside Service Team Manager for New Forest & Central Hampshire tells us:
We are planning to undertake some work on the Shawford Down lower car park on the Malms Road to prevent vehicles from parking on the down. The works will entail the importation of chalk which will be used to build up a bund around the existing car park preventing vehicles from accessing the grass areas.
These works are scheduled to start on Monday 24th October and will last for up to 2 weeks, but hopefully less.
The car park will be closed off with Heras fencing during this period. We will erect signs on site explaining the works and indicating where there is additional parking further down the Malms Road.
