Two villages and a ferry: Chichester harbour walk

Waiting for the ferry at Itchenor

On a splendid morning perfect for an autumnal walk, nine of us set off from Bosham  on a 10 mile circuit of Chichester and Bosham Channels.

Our walk got a little extended due to a very high spring tide that required a detour to avoid the flooded path, near Fishbourne.  We stopped at the Spinnaker resteraunt in Chichester Marina, who had reserved a big table for us and served an excellent lunch.

After lunch the walk crossed Birdham Pool towards Itchenor where we crossed by foot ferry, the rapidly ebbing tide towards Bosham. The last mile and half was along the shoreline of Bosham Channel and across the harbour path back to our cars.

The photo shows our group as we waited for the foot ferry at  Itchenor.
