Hampshire & IoW 2012 Village of the Year Competition

On 25 September, about a dozen representatives from Compton & Shawford attended the prizegiving of Hampshire ALC’s 2012 Village of the Year competition, hosted by Bishop’s Sutton, last year’s winner.

Vernham Dean took the main prize and also won “Best Small Village” and “Pub is the Hub”.

Compton & Shawford won the Diamond Jubilee and Olympics category, and was runner-up in the overall competition.

Parish Council chairman Una Stevens, seen here accepting a certificate from sponsor Richard Fuller, was also presented with a bouquet for “inspirational leadership”.
