Queen Elizabeth II Playing Field Opening
Queen Elizabeth II Playing Field Official Opening
On a lovely sunny morning on Saturday 6 April 2013, a crowd of local residents and users of the field gathered for the official opening of the Queen Elizabeth II Playing FIeld in Compton Street.
The field was renamed in honour of the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee, becoming part of the Fields In Trust movement to safeguard outdoor spaces for future generations.
After a brief opening speech, Parish Council chairman Una Stevens unveiled the plaque.
Everyone then gathered under the goalposts for a photocall and repaired to the Scout Hall for coffee and delicious cakes.
